While Don was waiting for the body to come back from the sand blaster he started on the dash. That looks pretty bad doesn't it?

That green is the original color of the dash. Every car made that year used that color. It helped with the instrument backlighting.

Don finished sanding the trunk lid today and got it primed. Don made a decision to not use the trunk lid as it had some rust internally and pitting. He also got the dash sanded and primed. This is the dash from the 1966, Don thought we would be able to use it. When Don tried to use it he found that it is not interchangeable. We will have to modify the dash we have from the 1967 to accommodate the A/C ports.

Don plans to purchase the black paint for this and spray it Monday. He will then put it together and store it in the spare room. Don also did the ash tray.... he told me I can keep spare change in it!! He also got me a new lighter, that's in case I ever take up smoking again, and the glove box door is sanded, primed and ready to paint.

Don is having a hard time getting good pictures of the dash it is so bright with chrome and new paint that the reflections clause glare in the photos. This is the best one he was able to send.

September 21st, 2006 Here are shots of the dash. Don has been working on this for almost a week. The installation of the A/C unit has been difficult. It really didn't fit as well as it was advertised. The new radio is installed here along with a new odometer. It is looking excellent now. The gaping hole in the center is where the stereo speaker goes. We ordered this part some time ago, received it and later figured out that it was the wrong one. We are waiting for the right one to come it.

October 12th, 2006 Don installed the dash and steering column today. Lots of detail work remains to be done. He is wiring it up now.
December 4th, 2006 Don realized that he had left out the covers for the turn signal lights when he installed the dash. This week he pulled the dash back out and it will soon be put back. He needs help to do it as it is unwieldy and heavy. We have been looking for a shift lever for the car for sometime. The one we had was badly corroded so Don had painted it. We just put it on the list of something that we would look for over time. Well, Don spotted one on E-Bay and we bought it. The chrome is good on this one but the knob is not standard.
In the end this did not matter because we switched out the bench seats for buckets and moved the shifter to the floor.
